Seated · all levels

Chair Yoga for seniors and beginners

All you need is a sturdy chair. Every pose is done sitting down or holding the backrest, so you can stretch, strengthen and breathe deeply without ever getting down on the floor.

Sessions are calm and short, with a clear voice telling you what to do and when to switch sides. Start gently, then build up a little more each week.

  • No floor work — sit or hold the chair the whole time
  • Easy-to-follow moves for every age and fitness level
  • Gentle stretches for the neck, shoulders, back and hips
  • Fits into a coffee break — sessions from a few minutes

Standing · slow & steady

Tai Chi for beginners

Tai chi is a sequence of slow, flowing movements linked with steady breathing. It asks for attention rather than effort — which is why so many people take it up later in life.

Slimly breaks the forms into short lessons you can follow in your living room, then joins them up, day by day, into a complete flow. Qigong and walking tai chi are there too when you want some variety.

  • Step-by-step lessons for complete beginners
  • Low-impact moves that need only a little floor space
  • Breathing and balance practice in every session
  • Follow-along video with calm voice guidance

Face & neck · around 10 minutes

Face Yoga exercises

Face yoga is a set of exercises and gentle self-massage for the muscles of the face and neck. Choose the zones you care about — forehead, eyes, cheeks, lips, chin or neck — and Slimly puts together short routines around them.

Most routines take around ten minutes, so they slot neatly into your morning or evening skincare. No tools or devices — just clean hands.

  • Routines for de-puffing, jawline, eyes and neck
  • Video for every move, so you see exactly what to do
  • No creams, rollers or gadgets required
  • A few calm minutes for yourself, every day

On a mat · core & posture

Pilates for core strength and posture

Mat pilates is a series of slow, controlled exercises for the deep core muscles — the ones that help you sit and stand tall. Every move is done lying, kneeling or sitting on a mat, with your breath setting the pace.

Slimly shows each exercise on video with clear voice cues and builds your plan up a little each week, so the moves stay doable as they get stronger.

  • Core, hip and back work on a single mat
  • Video and voice cues for every exercise
  • Starts at beginner level and builds gradually
  • Short sessions that fit into a busy day

Bed Pilates & Bed Yoga

Some days the best place to start is right where you woke up. Bed pilates and bed yoga sessions are built for a soft surface: you move lying on your back or side, on all fours, or sitting up against the pillows.

The moves are slow and controlled, with video and voice cues, so you can stretch, wake up your core and loosen stiff joints before your feet touch the floor — or wind down before sleep.

  • Every move works on a mattress — no mat or equipment
  • Gentle pilates for the core, hips and back
  • Lying, kneeling and seated moves — all on the bed
  • Short sessions that start from just a few minutes

Questions & answers

Who is chair yoga for?

Chair yoga is for anyone who would rather exercise without getting down on the floor: older adults, beginners, people who sit a lot during the day, or anyone easing back into movement. Every pose is done seated or holding the back of the chair. If you have a health condition or an injury, check with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.

Is tai chi good for beginners?

Yes. Tai chi is slow and low-impact, and Slimly starts from the very first stance. Each lesson shows the movements step by step with voice guidance, so you can learn at your own pace and repeat any session as often as you like.

How long are the sessions?

You choose when you set up your program in the app: anything from 3–5 minutes up to 20–30 minutes a day. Many people go for 10–20 minutes. Your plan is built around the time you pick.

Do I need any equipment?

No. Chair yoga needs a sturdy chair without wheels, bed yoga needs your bed and pilates is easiest on a mat or a rug. Tai chi, face yoga and the other practices need nothing but a little space and comfortable clothes.

Can I really work out in bed?

Yes. Bed yoga uses movements that work on a soft surface: lying on your back or side, on all fours, or sitting up against the pillows. A firmer mattress is easiest, and every move works on a floor mat too.

How soon will I see results from face yoga?

It differs from person to person, and we don’t promise a particular result. Like any exercise, face yoga is about regular practice, so give it a few weeks of short daily routines before you judge.

Is Slimly a subscription? Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, Slimly is a subscription, and you can cancel at any time in the app settings or by writing to [email protected], at least one day before the renewal date.
